Checking out icloud
Saw something on twitter about icloud. Am now checking it out and waiting for some more opinions from my tech experts and pioneers on Twitter.
What makes a good keynote.
Check out this link. Got it from Twitter from Kevin Jarrett. It is the results of his Twitter poll on what makes a good keynote!

Two sources for Promethean boards!
Here's an extensive list of interactive websites that should work well on your whiteboards.

Women in TECHNOLOGY that I admire and Thank!
I am now writing in response to my pledge to the Ada Lovelace Day Site. AHHH..... my very first mentor in technology is Sheryl Smith. Way back when Union Valley had only one internet station, Sheryl and I would explore it together and share everything we learned! She is truly a tech guru by now!
Three years ago Mary Frazier and Rosemary Miller became District Integration Technology Specialists..... and I could not begin to tell you everything I have learned from them! I was part of their very first Tech Cadre class and have continued to be in the group as we have had 2 updates via class meetings. They are bloggers, wiki makers, teachers, innovators, and friends! Thank YOU for being my mentors! This would not be complete if I did not mention my new tech gurus and mentors at Obee School.. Becky Mullins and Tammy Gilley...They are gurus, innovators and always ready to try integrating technology into the curriculum content. Much has been accomplished and I am proud to work with them at Obee School.
PS I completed my pledge to my women mentors in technology and posted my blog! My blog was right above the Ida Lovelace Day website. And I made it on the map. I am # 33!

Differentiated instruction
The best example of differentiated instruction that I have seen working is the way Wednesday winners is done at Obee. Various types of intruction are used to teach and reteach and review various concepts in the math standards: Promethan boards, lots of manipulatives, rulers, calculators, laptops, white boards, math tiles, along with techniques of small group instruction and tutoring. I have a group of boys, high in math, from fifth grade. They are making keynotes to Voicethreads on some advanced math topics. Perfect for them to be challenged and look at each concept step by step. These Voicethreads will be shared with other students. The topics are estimating fractions, mixed numbers, variables, and ordered pairs.

New Promethean Board
Wordle as an epal introduction
My new idea...Use wordle as an epal introduction. Step one.. Have kids write the model for wordle such as first of their first name so it is big! Third grade, Mrs. Youcam, favorite subject, favorite color, my dog Murphy,,,etc. Enter in wordle and take a screen pic and save to desktop.
Since we are a TRC school we want to show some of our technology skills with our writing. Wordles will be sent to our NEW epals in Mrs. Wills' room at Union Valley School. I hope they like are Word cloud about US!
