This week we had a successful TRC week at Obee! Sykpe was used for the first time. Mrs. Mullins arranged a visit for the french teacher at Buhler High and her class connected with France on Thursday!! Gizmos is progressing. The problem with the new Macbooks and Shockwave is being resolved. Most are working!! Courtney and I are going to work on setting up Typing Pals classes and getting Voice Threads for students going. We are going to work on these issues on Thursday during PT conferences.

Kids I am worried about
I have been at Obee just long enough to get attached to the students. I love to study people and try to figure out what motivates them in their life journeys and what bothers them and why. There are some kids here that I am really worried about! Not any different than my feelings about some of my former students at UV. So many people, including kids, need help. I have to tell myself I cannot solve all the problems I see but I hope those students know I care.

Fifth grade collaboration
It was great being a "visitor" in Buhler Grade Five collaboration on Friday morning. Mary Frazier, our tech mentor for elementary schools shared uses of the document cameras. Epals was discussed and how to go about looking for a "community" and setting up a profile. I especially thought that the importance of setting up a great classroom profile was useful for a successful epals experience. Shared folders were discussed and uses between teachers and grade level students!
Rosemary's blog has great suggestions!
Please check out Rosemary's blog at outoftheordinarywithRosemary.blogspot.com. She has some " daily life" finds that are awesome. I tried both the 1800-466-4411 for FREE phone number access! Works great and will save me money!
Also tried the itunes radio. It is funny how you forget some really neat things you learned about and this is one. After Rosemary reminded me I tried it again and it is really awesome. Just hook up your speakers and you are set!

Kids are different today, wired differently, process faster, switch between tasks quicker. There are visual procesors and it was very interesting to hear his opinion on color and visual learning and its effect on readers. How do teachers begin to find digital means to quickly integrate technology? Material needs to be presented quickly and with many kinds of media with pictures, sounds and movement independently or incorporated together! We need to be digital 21st century learners as well as teachers. The teachers' dilemna, how to integrate and get ready for digital learners.....on step at a time.
